Job Title: R & D Engineer
Description: Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is launching a new engineered stone countertop product line. The R & D Engineer will have the responsibility of solving problems in the scale up to industrial production. (S)he will be able to modify the formula to adapt the product to new environmental conditions, aesthetic requirements, or applications by modifying the components of the product or the process. Perform mechanical, thermal testing to benchmark product to industry standard, competitive products or certification accreditation agencies; develop and execute R & D plans; interface with external testing facilities.

Health & Safety - Support operations to maintain or improve the controls of manufacturing processes to comply with site operational health & safety objectives.
Environmental Control - Maintain or improve the controls of raw materials to assure compliance to industry and corporate product stewardship standards
Process Improvement - Conduct World Class Manufacturing (WCM) experiments to improve process throughput and quality
Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Polymer, Material Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with at least 2 yrs of industrial experience in related industry OR Master of Science in Polymer, Material Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Experience or familiarity with the industry of countertops, stone / ceramics / polymer building materials
Six Sigma, WCM certifications or equivalent a plus.
